Technology Resources
- Case Management System Reviews and Ratings - A resource developed by NTAP for the legal services community to view and contribute ratings and reviews of case management systems. Includes vendor feature sets, and will include screencasts showcasing CMS capabilities, user-generated content highlighting CMS customizations and relevant portions of the 2004 CMS Report.
- Kaivo is a for-profit company providing technology solutions, training and consultancy services to government, non-profit and corporate clients using development platforms, infrastructure tools and business intelligence derived from the Open Source community. Kaivo built the original open source version of the statewide website template. The Kaivo website provides information about the template, useful technical information for template users, and access to template user groups and listservs.
- Lawhelp.org was built by Pro Bono.net. The website is a portal for the referral to statewide websites: local legal aid and public interest law offices, basic information about legal rights, self-help information, court information, links to social service agencies, etc. in each state.
- Legal Aid University- (LAU) is the sole provider of online professional development courses for the national legal aid community.
- LegalMeetings- This web-based service aims to improve the efficiency and efficacy of the poverty law community through online meeting technology. It provides online web conferencing services at a very low cost. It features the ability to host, start, and schedule an online meeting or training, along with many training features. Within the next year, Legal Meetings is exploring how make this service available to non-LSC funded programs. Starting August 2006, LSC-funded programs will be able to sign up for Legal Meetings™ for a cost of $10 – 32 a month, depending on program size.
- LSNTAP.Org - This is a web portal to technology services and information tailored to a legal aid audience. This site strives to be a resource for information on virtually every aspect of technology and poverty law that enables nonprofit legal aid providers to use technology to serve low-income clients more effectively.
- NTAP Training -NTAP provides technology services (training, information, and assistance) to the poverty law community to support the effective use of technology initiatives that benefit clients and our work on their behalf. NTAP is acting as the community's clearinghouse on all technology training and helps coordinate all tech trainings of NLADA, LSC, and MIE. Additionally, NTAP is developing virtual trainings on specific technologies for small groups of people to discuss, learn and share.
- NTAP Help Desk - The Help Desk real-time chat client is a project set up to help LSC-funded programs get on-demand assistance with several different legal services technologies. Right now, any staff member from an LSC-funded program can use the chat client to receive help with Statewide websites, Web 2.0 tools, multimedia projects, Poverty Law Survey Tool, online project management systems, and GIS mapping.
- Probono.net- (PBN) seeks to increase access to justice through innovative uses of technology and increased volunteer lawyer participation. Probono.net built the LawHelp template currently in use by 28 states. This site provides information about the template, useful technical information for template users, and access to template user groups and listservs. The Probono.net website also has contact information for the Probono.net circuit riders.
